It can if drying was incomplete. Mold needs moisture, and materials that feel dry on the surface may still hold water inside. That is why we take moisture meter readings in the wall cavity and subfloor rather than judging by touch, and continue drying until readings return to the normal range for the material.

Do I need to leave my home during restoration?

Usually not. Most water damage work is confined to the affected rooms, and drying equipment runs while you continue living in the house. You may need to relocate temporarily for extensive fire damage, sewage contamination in living areas, or large-scale mold remediation where containment blocks off key rooms.
